ERM scientists have made a breakthrough discovery in researching the TPAC cure. In clinical trials last week, it was discovered that tree frog sweat may help counteract the onset of TPAC symptoms. In the study, it was found that when 40 ounces of sweat (extracted from Agalychnis callidryas) were applied to echidnas just prior to DHMO exposure, the infection rate fell from 99% to 56%. With more research, it could be discovered how to boost immunity even more.
While the impact of this study is sure to be monumental, there have been some issues raised regarding the ethical implications of the research. The Tree-Froggers of America (TFA) have begun to file suit for the trauma caused to the frogs in the extraction process. "This abuse of tree frogs is unacceptable!" declared TFA spokesman Carl Karlson. "We will not rest until every last member of the Echidna Restoration Movement pays the penalty for what they have done." Tensions between the ERM and TFA have risen dramatically within the last 3 days, reaching a climax this afternoon. TFA supporters reportedly threw rotten artichokes at a gathering of ERM supporters. In retaliation, the ERM members called their aggressors nasty names. The local militia had to be called in to quell the unrest.
